When I originally started Southside Conditioning Club, I never thought that I would be able to make such a difference in so many people’s lives.

 

Health and happiness are my passions, and my coaching has allowed me to find the perfect opportunity to bring both of my passions into the lives of the people I work with.

 

My purpose is to help people improve their self-image and by helping them realize what they are truly capable of.  There are too many people in the world who are unaware of their abilities and go through life accepting things the way they are.  I refuse to let people settle for being less than they can be.  I’ve seen what people can do when they are given the tools and instruction they need to succeed.  This is why my ambitions for my clients is to not only give them the tools that will push their physical boundaries, but that will develop and strengthen their mental and physiological stamina and durability.

 

Every time I see a friend and client reach a goal, often one they themselves never thought possible, or learn something as simple as a new technique I am reminded how rewarding fitness is, and how important it is in everyone's life.

 

I not only train my clients to be better at a single aspect or field, but rather to be the best that they can be in all aspects of life. Thank you to everyone for letting myself, and my trainers, into your lives.

DIANA INGRAM, ASSISTANT COACH/ PERSONAL TRAINING SPECIALIST

I’ve been active my whole life, growing up I figure skated, danced ballet, jazz, and my favourite, gymnastics. I excelled at gymnastics by far and worked hard to be competitive within my category. It wasn’t until I sprained my knee that any future in my gymnastics career was over. After that mental and physical debilitation I had tried a few times to keep active but my motivation to was lost. Then in 2009, I was diagnosed with celiac disease, which finally helped me put together the reason and cause for the symptoms I had been experience for some time. Knowing I was celiac wasn’t enough, there were major adjustments I had to undergo, and will continue to have to tackle.

 

It wasn’t until I realized I needed help to get health and fitness back into my life, that I took the steps to make those changes. Once I found the right coach, my coach, I fell back in love with health and fitness, and not only began to see the results of my hard work, but started to truly enjoy it.

 

Philosophy: 


I became a personal trainer to help those looking to make changes within their life. This is what I base my personal training philosophy around today; change takes time, and asking for help to make those changes in your life is necessary. Don’t be afraid to ask for help or to start, it is a new opportunity to build or rebuild what you want in your life. It is never easy to make the first step to ask, or the second step to keep coming in and train, but it is important that my clients know that they are not only held accountable, but have the support they need to be successful.

WILL MCINTYRE, COACH

 

Growing up I was always active playing basketball and competing in cross-country and track and field. Around the age of 15 I was looking for a change, which led me to start training at a local Crossfit gym where I learned a lot about functional fitness, and fostering a competitive training environment.

I have always enjoyed working out; however, it wasn’t until 2013 that I learned how much I enjoyed coaching. I am interested in all aspects of fitness, including endurance, stamina, flexibility, power and strength; powerlifting and olympic lifting. Prior to moving to Edmonton in 2015, I coached a variety of athletes through personal and group training sessions mainly focusing on functional fitness. In addition to the experience that I do have, I am always trying to learn more regarding all aspects of fitness. 

 

Philosophy: 

 

I believe that our training should encompass a wide range of physical skills and challenges that prepare us for everything that life has to offer. Fitness is long term and everyone’s goals should reflect that. I also believe that everyone should be considered an athlete and that requires training like one as well. In my opinion this means that everyone is competitive and will see the best results while training to be the best they can be.

BEN, PROGRAM SPECIALIST

I’ve been an athlete my whole life. Growing up I played football and continued to do so throughout my high school years. In 2007, an ankle injury put an end to my ideas of playing football beyond high school. After spending close to a year rehabilitating my injury, I decided it was time to start chasing a different dream, the dream of becoming a firefighter. I had been introduced to weightlifting in High School through Football, and for several years after high school I used what I had learned as the foundation for everything I would go on to do in the future.


I became a personal Trainer, and after two years of researching the paired testing with trial and error in the gym, I was able to come up with a program that I felt was going to give me the best chance to not only pass the Firefighter Physical Test, but to dominate it. In 2010 I aced my Physical Test and went on to earn a job as an Edmonton Firefighter on my first try through the process.

 

Philosophy: 


I believe in goal setting, hard work, and discipline. In addition to setting a goal, make a plan to reach that goal, control every variable. Be prepared to make sacrifices. Nothing worthwhile is easy. I believe that you should practice like you play, so don’t go into the gym and do generic training, train for what you’re competing for.
